Low Back Pain Without Symptoms Going Down the Leg
Do you have low back pain? Well, you’re in the right place. My name’s Dr. Jared Bornstein from NJ Health Performance in East Brunswick. And today we’re going to be going over how shockwave helps patients with low back pain. So come on in.
Alright, so we have our patient here. She is coming in for low back pain. It’s just localized right here, so no radiculopathy, nothing going down the leg. No numbness, tingling, no sciatica. Although this can help with that.
Using the Shockwave Machine
So what we’re going to do is use the shockwave machine. We take this little tip, we put it right here, right where her pain is, and it’s going to put shockwaves into her spine to help break up scar tissue, decrease pain, decrease inflammation, and actually help regenerate any kind of tearing, any kind of disc herniation, any kind of disc bulges, anything like that.
So here we go. We’re going to put some ultrasound gel on there. Perfect. Alright, here we go.
Now what we’re going to do is we’re going to get both sides for 3,000 impulses, okay? And that’s the recommended amount of impulses or energy we’re going to put into her spine and tissue. You doing okay?
We’re up.
Shockwave Sessions and Other Therapies
So typically shockwave is done in 10 sessions, chunks of 10 sessions. So this is her third session. She’ll also do whatever other therapies we prescribed, including chiropractic, spinal decompression, physical therapy, or acupuncture.
And it always depends upon the specific diagnosis and which tissue is damaged in the patient.
